Alice Kwartler featured at New York Magazine

Profile

In 1988, Alice Kwartler decided to leave the corporate world and open a store
selling what she loves—beautiful estate and antique items. Her spacious Midtown
East location attracts passersby, as well as collectors who visit from around
the world. Her selection is largely sterling silver, but it also includes an
impressive assortment of enamel and crystal pieces. One of the nation’s biggest
collections of cuff links—as well as platinum, diamond, and gold jewelry,
including Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and forties and fifties pieces—is showcased in
the center of the store. Along the perimeter of the shop are large glass cases,
each holding a curated selection: cocktail-and-bar, Tiffany and Cartier, and
inkwell-and-desk accessories. The store is a great place for corporate
presents, like engravable sterling boxes, and also offers bridal and baby
registries. — Caroline Kinneberg
